Train your visual skills that impact your performance on the field!
- Batting
- Fielding
- Catching/Throwing
- Pitch location
- Base running
- Control the running game
Visual skills utilized to play the sport of baseball:
- Eye alignment
- Flexibility of eye movements
- Speed of Focusing
- Speed of processing visual information
- Reaction time
- Visual concentration
- Visual confidence
- Hitting a pitched baseball requires many skills, however you can’t hit what you can’t see.
- Players that possess efficient visual skills have visual confidence at the plate.
- In order to hit a pitched ball a player is required to see the location, motion, and rotation of the ball. Training the speed and efficiency of the two eyes moving together will allow the player to get his eyes on the ball.
- When fielding fly balls, line drives, grounders, the athlete uses the information from the eyes and then must react.
- Visual information will influence the athlete’s decision making on field.
- Decisions on field are based on what the athlete “sees” happening and their interpretation of the play.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Vizual Edge™ Performance Training (VEPT) on the Batting Performance of NCAA Division I Baseball Players. A pretest-posttest control group design was used to determine if Vizual Edge™, a commercial software program designed to assess and train vision skills, has a significant effect on the batting skills of NCAA DI baseball players.
|
The results of this study indicate that NCAA DI baseball players that received Vizual Edge™ training produced significantly higher batted-ball velocities than NCAA DI baseball players that did not receive Vizual Edge™ training.

Branyan's batting 'edge' computer-aided
Eye-training video program helps keep platoon member sharp
Branyan jumped in this spring when he decided to commit more regularly to the "Vizual Edge Performance Trainer," a computer program billed as weight training for the eyes, developed by the Visual Fitness Institute out of Vernon Hills, Ill. The software includes a number of exercises tailored to a variety of sports, that according to its developer, Dr. Barry Seiller, can help athletes improve their visual alignment, flexibility, recognition and tracking, as well as their depth perception. San Diego Padres
"Hi, I am Greg Riddoch. In the past, when I was the Manager of the San Diego Padres this technology was not available. Vizual Edge would have been an essential tool as part of our complete training program. I use the Vizual Edge software to illustrate visual strengths and weakness to parents and athletes as part of my hitting instruction. You can spend hundreds of dollars on equipment but unless you can see the ball and react to it properly, that bat or glove is not going to help you perform better." Listen to more...

"When a hitter is doing well he always says 'I'm really seeing the ball good.' I am confident that using Vizual Edge will help our players 'see it better' and hit it better." ~Tommy Pharr, Head Baseball Coach
St. Xavier High School
"During our research we discovered that a baseball player's vision plays
an important part in how well he performs day in and day out. Much
like the physical development programs we designed to develop our
players strength, speed and quickness, we could now incorporate
vision training as part of their training routines." READ MORE...

"The Visual Performance Program has made a huge difference in the on field performance for our team. We saw improvements in our players' timing, balance, concentration, fielding, hitting, and, most importantly, the consistency of their game to game play.
