about us

Vizual Edge was built on the belief that vision is the most trainable — and most overlooked — skill in sports performance. At the center of that belief is the pioneering work of the late Dr. Barry Seiller, one of the earliest and most influential leaders in the sports vision space.

In the mid 1990s, long before “vision training” became a mainstream performance conversation, Dr. Seiller was already proving its impact. As a respected ophthalmologist and innovator, he dedicated his career to understanding how visual processing — not just eyesight — drives reaction time, decision-making, depth perception, and on-field performance. His work with athletes across multiple sports helped establish the foundation for what is now known as sports vision training.

Dr. Seiller didn’t just study vision — he operationalized it.

He was instrumental in developing some of the first structured visual performance assessment and training protocols designed specifically for athletes. By combining clinical vision science with real-world sports application, he helped teams and players quantify visual skills that had never been measured before — and more importantly, train them.

Vizual Edge is a direct evolution of that legacy.

What began as Dr. Seiller’s early training technology — originally delivered via floppy disk, later advancing to CD-ROM — has continually evolved alongside innovation in both sport and software. Today, Vizual Edge exists as a fully online, cloud-based platform, making world-class vision assessment and training accessible from virtually anywhere.

This technological evolution has expanded the reach of Dr. Seiller’s work far beyond its original footprint. What once served select teams and clinics now supports athletes and non-athletes alike across the globe — from youth and amateur competitors to collegiate programs, professional organizations, military personnel, and performance-driven individuals seeking a cognitive edge.

Using advanced 3D technology, the system measures and develops core visual processing skills such as:

  • Depth perception

  • Tracking and eye movement control

  • Convergence and divergence

  • Contrast sensitivity

  • Visual recognition speed

  • And much more

These are the same visual abilities Dr. Seiller identified as critical to elite performance — now delivered through modern software with a truly global presence.

While the technology has advanced, the mission remains the same: help people see faster, process quicker, and perform better.

Today, Vizual Edge continues to push the sports vision field forward, partnering with organizations worldwide and expanding access to visual performance training across sports, professions, and everyday life.

Dr. Seiller’s pioneering spirit still defines who we are — a company rooted in science, driven by performance, and committed to giving users everywhere a true competitive edge.
